The Land Transport Authority's (LTA) "Be a Vigilant Commuter" programme and SMART Commuter Exhibition Panels help students develop practical knowledge and good habits for safe, secure and pleasant journeys on Singapore's public transport network.

Be a Vigilant Commuter Programme

This programme raises awareness of public transport safety and security through lessons drawn from past incidents in Singapore and overseas. Students will learn to identify potential security threats, respond appropriately during emergencies, and understand the role every commuter plays in keeping Singapore's public transport network safe.

Topics covered include recognising potential security threats and suspicious situations, applying the "See Something, Say Something" message in their daily commute, understanding the A.I.S.U. framework for assessing suspicious items or behaviour, and basic emergency response and first aid awareness.

Interactive quizzes and activities are incorporated throughout to reinforce learning. Participating students stand a chance to win prizes, and schools will receive "See Something, Say Something" campaign posters and educational brochures.

Engagement Formats

Schools may choose one or both of the following formats, subject to scheduling:

Assembly Talk (approximately 30–45 minutes)

Interactive Recess Engagement Booth (during recess time)

SMART Commuter Exhibition Panels (New)

Complementing the outreach programme, the SMART Commuter Exhibition Panels encourage students to adopt five key commuting principles under the SMART framework: Safe and secure travel, Mindful commuting, Alert and aware, Respectful to all, and Travel prepared.

The exhibition is designed for self-directed participation and includes interactive learning panels with QR code quizzes and educational content on public transport safety and security. Students who complete the quiz correctly may receive campaign prizes, subject to availability, which will be delivered to the school for distribution by the Student Services Office.

Schools may apply for a two-week deployment of the exhibition panels. For maximum engagement, panels are best displayed in high-footfall, sheltered areas where students can visit during recess and between lessons.
