National Library Board: Presidential Pop Up Library Guided Tour

Following its successful run, the Presidential Pop-up Library has relocated to Plaza Singapura Level 3, with an enhanced experience that brings together curated reads and inspiring stories from Singapore’s leaders and community. Inspired by the grandeur and design of Istana's façade and gardens, this pop-up library features an expanded browsing collection for reading at the library and eBooks available for visitors to borrow.

Schools are invited to book a complimentary guided tour to the pop-up library, with some key highlights including:

• Showcase of the 9 Presidents of Singapore with book titles and oral interviews

• Interactive quiz based on little-known facts about the Presidents

• Highlighting of 30 iconic Singaporean personalities through their personal book recommendations

• Physical copies of books featured available for browsing in the new reading space

• Exclusive educational worksheets designed to spark reflection and book reviewing

Learning Objectives:

a) Students can explore the diverse backgrounds, achievements, and leadership styles of Singapore's Presidents through write-ups, oral recordings and featured books, gaining valuable understanding of how different leaders have contributed to the nation's development and the qualities that define effective leadership.

b) Through the curated book recommendations by President Tharman, former President Dr Tony Tan, and Mdm Halimah, and 30 iconic Singaporean personalities, students discover how these notable personnel value continuous learning and can explore diverse literary works that have shaped their thinking, encouraging them to develop their own reading habits and intellectual curiosity.

c) The inspiring quotes from books, carefully selected for their relevance to younger generations, provide students with motivational insights and life lessons that can guide their personal development, whilst the browsable collection and e-books offer accessible ways to engage with meaningful literature that resonates with their aspirations and challenges.
