Spotlight on the Blind is an interactive programme designed to develop empathy and foster inclusion. Through engaging activities and the sharing of experiences by blind facilitators, the programme will provide insights into the lives of the blind community and debunk stereotypes. Participants will be inspired by the accomplishments and resilience of the blind. They will also be motivated to apply what they have learnt to existing school programmes in the areas of innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership, in helping to build a more inclusive society.

Details

The in-person programme will be conducted in a suitable classroom with AV projection facilities. As a class (preferable class size of 20 - 25 students), participants will engage in videos, simulations, and discussions, all led by blind facilitators. The virtual programme will be conducted fully online via Zoom. Following a brief introduction, participants will go into online breakout rooms where they will engage in videos, simulations and discussions, all led by blind facilitators.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be:

More aware of and empathetic to the challenges faced by the blind community.
Inspired by the accomplishments and resilience of people who are blind.
Encouraged to think about what they can do to be more inclusive.

Target Audience: Primary 5- P6 students, Secondary 1- 4/5 students, Post Secondary (JC/ Poly/ ITE)

Runtime: All year round

Fee: Students: $12 ($13.08 after GST) for online, $20 ($21.80 after GST) for in-person.

Adult: $27 ($29.43 after GST) for online, $50 ($54.50 after GST) for in-person. Prices are subject to changes.

Duration of Session: 1h 15 mins (virtual) or 1h 30 mins (in-person)
