1. Caring Commuter Champion (CCC) Programme (for Sec 1 and above)

Empower your students to become advocates for inclusive commuting

a.      Assembly Talk (Live / Virtual)

The Assembly Talk is an engaging session introducing students to the Four Caring Norms (Give Care, Give Time, Give a Hand and Give Thanks) and the “3A” framework (Assess, Ask and Assist). Students will learn about the needs of vulnerable commuters, such as commuters who are visually impaired, deaf or hard-of-hearing, seniors with dementia, and persons with invisible conditions.

b.      CCC E-Learning Course (~45 minutes)

The CCC E-Learning Course is a self-paced modular online course certifying students as Caring Commuter Champions. Upon completion, schools can propose related Values-in-Action (VIA) or co-creation projects to promote caring commuting in their community.

2. Experiential Workshops (availability is subject to factors such as the number of participants)

Students can participate in experiential workshops, where they will put themselves in the shoes of more vulnerable commuters or commuters with disabilities by undergoing various simulations (e.g., a blindfolded participant attempts to navigate the public transport nodes etc). This will enable participants to gain a first-hand understanding of challenges faced by different commuter profiles.

3. Caring Commuting Co-Creation Projects (preferably for Primary 4 students and above)

The co-creation projects are hands-on projects (in-person or virtual) which deepen empathy and foster community collaboration. Students, under the guidance of educators, can design and implement projects to make commuting more inclusive, such as:

-           Care Ride Project: Accompany seniors and/or Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) on a bus/train ride to understand their travel challenges.  

-          CARE Carnival: Organise exhibitions or simulation activities or quizzes at public transport nodes to raise awareness on inclusivity.

-          Social Media Campaigns: Create content (e.g. Instagram reels etc), showcasing practical ways to help fellow commuters. Examples are Instagram reels developed by St Andrew’s Junior College (SAJC) students:

Learning Outcomes:

• Understand the travel needs of vulnerable commuters.

• Develop empathy, confidence, and situational awareness to offer help appropriately.  

• Collaborate with peers and community stakeholders to promote inclusive commuting.

Target Audience: Primary 4 - 6 students, Secondary Level, and Post Secondary (JC/ Poly/ ITE)
