Student Guide Training Programme
The Student Guide Training Programme is an initiative that seeks to encourage discovery and appreciation of Singapore’s Indianheritage in an engaging and interactive manner. Student Guides will have the opportunity to conduct tours of Indian Heritage Centre’spermanent and special exhibition galleries to guests, including Ministers on official visits, fellow students on learning trips, as well as members of the public. The programme is offered in English & Tamil.
Details
Students will be given a tour of selected artefacts in IHC’s permanent galleries and provided with useful guiding tips by IHC’s Docents. Students will then work on their scripts and submit them to the IHC team and docents for review. Students will then guide their peers in the galleries following a feedback session.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- LEARN the culture, heritage and history of the Indian community in Singapore
- DEVELOP qualities of an engaging and confident speaker
- BE EQUIPPED with skills to prepare a guiding script
- GAIN experience in sharing our heritage with others
- GROW confidence in learning and speaking in the Tamil language (for the Tamil Student Guiding Programme)
