Sentosa Development Corporation: LKCNHM Adaptation and Biomimicry Workshop at Sentosa
Conducted by LKCNHM, this Sentosa-based workshop combines outdoor exploration of local habitats with hands-on specimen activities demonstrating how biodiversity inspires adaptation and biomimicy.
Details
Conducted by the LKCNHM Education team, students participate in an outdoor nature walk and indoor hands-on activities using LKCNHM specimens and digital microscopes. They observe real examples of adaptation, explore how biological traits inspire human innovation through biomimicry, and learn about Sentosa’s unique habitats and conservation initiatives. The workshop fosters ecological awareness, encourages curiosity about biodiversity, and highlights the connections between natural adaptations and human design in an engaging, interactive, and educational experience suitable for upper primary to lower secondary students.
Learning Objectives
Understand how plants and animals adapt to their environments through LKCNHM’s specimens. Explore Sentosa’s habitats and appreciate local biodiversity. Investigate how natural adaptations inspire human innovation via biomimicry.
